  • We were delighted to host Dame Diana Johnson DBE, UK Home Office Minister for Policing, Fire and Crime Prevention at Neighbourhood Watch HQ recently. She came to speak to our brilliant volunteer members; Jan Forbes, Jacob Short Community Campaigner, Imaan Williams, Winston Gordon, Paul Voden, and Zak Hussein. The conversation covered community policing and local concerns around ASB and harassment. It was great to have the opportunity to share the brilliant work our volunteers are doing locally, from newsletters to chess clubs, litter picks, community hubs and campaigns. We also talked about national initiatives too. Including our youth council, cyberhood watch, our new organisational strategy and the Community Safety Charter. Find out more about the Charter, on our site https://lnkd.in/enYuiAm7

  • CCTV can be helpful in deterring crime and capturing evidence. But when installing systems, it’s important to remember that it also needs to protect the privacy of others.   We were really pleased to work with ASB Help who have seen an increase in enquiries which have a domestic CCTV element. This blog that explains what your rights are.

Increasing the diversity of our board so that it better reflects the communities we serve will help us do a better job as a charity, so we want to recruit some new trustees. We are very keen to involve younger people, people from the LGBTQ+ community, those with lived experience of disability, victims of crime, as well as people from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. We will support people for whom this would be their first trustee role to learn about the responsibilities of trusteeship. Find out more https://lnkd.in/e-qZxm83

  • We welcome and support the Government's introduction of ‘Ronan’s Law’ to deliver a tough crackdown on knife sales online, to better protect young people. It is essential that organisations and communities work in collaboration to stop the illegal sale of knives, and reduce the amount of tragic deaths by knife attack. 👉 Read more on our website: https://bit.ly/3X7CJ2p UK Home Office
