South Wales Police is excited to launch our 2024 Summer Placement Programme; we are looking for people with diverse skills and experiences to join our successful team.

This is an excellent opportunity for applicants who are looking for a work placement to join a specialist department and gain work experience and training.

Our Summer Placement programme is paid and is for a period of 8 weeks starting in July 2024.

We have an opportunity to work with us over a short period to gain an understanding of our business, and we are looking for someone to #JoinUs and work with our Corporate Services Team.

About the Department you will be joining:

  • Sitting within the portfolio of the Deputy Chief Constable, the Corporate Services Department acts as a professional and dynamic advisory service to the organisation across a wide range of business areas.
  • The department covers several functions including Change Management, Continuous Improvement, Demand, Inspection and Performance Analysis.
  • Our office is based at South Wales Police Headquarters in Bridgend, but we offer a hybrid working policy which supports working from home.

 

About the role and your key responsibilities:

  • As part of the Corporate Services Department, you will provide general administrative assistance to the Senior Management Team

 

  • Applicants should be competent with Microsoft Applications such Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams

 

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

  • You will be highly organised and computer literate.

 

  • You must be enthusiastic, work well as a team but have the initiative and confidence to work as an individual.

To be eligible for the SWP Summer Placement Programme you must:

  • Have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C grade, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
  • Be a British Citizen, citizen from the European Economic Area (EEA), Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom.
  • Not have previously completed an apprenticeship, internship, or graduate programme with South Wales Police.
