This is an excellent opportunity for applicants who are looking for a work placement to join a specialist department and gain work experience and training.

Our Summer Placement programme is paid and is for a period of 8 weeks starting in July 2024.

We have an opportunity to work with us over a short period to gain an understanding of our business, and we are looking for someone to #JoinUs and work with our Positive Action Team.

About the team/Department you will be joining: 

• Positive action refers to a range of measures and initiatives that employers can lawfully take to actively encourage individuals from under-represented groups to apply for jobs.

• The Positive Action Team is a small but busy team based within our Human Resources Department, the team is equally made up of staff and Police Officers.

• Our office is based at South Wales Police Headquarters in Bridgend, but we offer a hybrid working policy which supports working from your home.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

• You will work closely with the team to support potential candidates and community groups to provide guidance and support via a range of different methods.
• You will support the work with our partners and key stakeholders to design and implement programmes and processes that support our Positive Action strategy.
• You will provide support to ensure effective external communications around campaign management and community engagement.
• You will have access to data and feedback to continuously review our processes and implement improvements and developments.

 What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

• If you have and understanding and enthusiasm for working in a role where we offer and promote Positive Action initiatives, we would love to hear from you.
• We are looking for someone who understands the importance of Positive Action and thus supporting increased engagement and diversity.
• You must have excellent communication skills
• We would like you have skills in Microsoft applications, particularly excel, to be able to collect, analyse and produce statistical reports and communicate them effectively.

To be eligible for the SWP Summer Placement Programme you must:

• Have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C grade, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
• Be a British Citizen, citizen from the European Economic Area (EEA), Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom.
• Not have previously completed an apprenticeship, internship or graduate programme with South Wales Police.
