Our Summer Placement programme is paid and is for a period of 8 weeks starting in July 2024.

We have an opportunity to work with us over a short period to gain an understanding of our business, and we are looking for someone to #JoinUs and work with our Evidence Management Unit, within Crime and Criminal Justice Department.

About the Department you will be joining:

The Evidence Management Unit is responsible for storage of evidence and property.

About the role and your responsibilities:

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to provide the team with support in the following areas:

• The provision of a professional courier and evidence management service.
• Support the safe transportation of mail, stationary, supplies, uniform and evidential property subject of change, throughout South Wales Police whilst maintaining the security and continuity of evidence.
• To operate within the Evidence Management Unit to safely store items, maintaining accurate records, retrieve and prepare items for onward transfer, to undertake physical and electronic audits and to physically dispose of exhibits in line with Force Policy.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

• You need to be able to work as part of a team and confident to work independently as well.

• You will need to have excellent attention to detail

• You need to be an organised individual who’s able to use Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

To be eligible for the SWP Summer Placement Programme you must:

• Have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C grade, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
• Be a British Citizen, citizen from the European Economic Area (EEA), Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom.
• Not have previously completed an apprenticeship, internship, or graduate programme with South Wales Police.
