Our Summer Placement programme is paid and is for a period of 8 weeks starting in July 2024.

About the Department you will be joining:

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team is based in SWP Headquarters in Bridgend, providing support, advice and guidance on Equality and Human Rights matters to the organisation and facilitating the delivery of the Chief Constable’s Strategic Equality Plan.

 

About the role and your responsibilities:

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to provide the team with administrative support, research and general administrative duties.

 

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

  • You will need to have a passion and commitment to EDI and Human Rights.

 

  • You will need to be enthusiastic, be able to adapt to change and respond swiftly to changing priorities.

 

  • You need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, as part of a team and confident to work independently as well.

 

  • You need to be an organised individual who’s able to use Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

This is an opportunity to learn; so, you need to be confident to ask for help when needed.

To be eligible for the SWP Summer Placement Programme you must:

  • Have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C grade, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
  • Be a British Citizen, citizen from the European Economic Area (EEA), Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom.
  • Not have previously completed an apprenticeship, internship, or graduate programme with South Wales Police.
